FAQ
Remote Presentation Requests
FG 2026 is an in-person conference. Remote presentation is not offered as a standard option and will be considered only in rare, exceptional cases involving serious travel or visa issues, subject to prior approval by the organizers. Requests based solely on lack of funding cannot be accommodated. All accepted papers must still satisfy the conference registration requirement, including at least one valid full registration by the author registration deadline. If an exception is approved and the authors are unable to attend in person, the paper may instead be presented in person by an approved proxy presenter. Authors facing exceptional circumstances should contact the organizers as early as possible.
Visa
Visa letters will be issued after completing the registration. Please make sure to register and select the option that you need a visa letter. For inquiries about Visa letters, please contact fg2026@kadinche.com
Local Poster printing options
We recommend that you print your poster at your location and bringing them with you to Japan.
If you do need a printing service in Kyoto, the two options below are available. However, please note that local businesses operate in Japanese, and that English support is difficult. Both shops offer a one-hour printing turnaround for PDF submissions, depending on their current workload.
- Kinko’s at Shijo-Karasuma (https://www.kinkos.co.jp/store/kyoto/ky001/) , 10 min by taxi from FG’s venue, KRP.
- Kyoto Copy at Gojo-Omiya (https://kyotocopy.tkc.best-hp.jp/poster) , 15 min walk from FG’s venue, KRP.
Payments in Japan
Please note that cash is still necessary in Japan, and services like Apple Pay might not be available everywhere. Visa and Mastercard credit cards are widely accepted, but American Express is rarely accepted.
Please also note that not all ATMs in Japan accept foreign cards. If you have trouble, find a JPost Bank ATM. For example: ゆうちょ銀行ATM 京都中堂寺坊城郵便局 is located near FG’s venue. Most ATMs in Japan are also open only during the day, so please be careful.
Transportation
Most public transport in Japan can be paid for with a prepaid card called PASMO. You can download it on your smartphone before your trip. Please follow the instructions in the links below:
Apple: https://www.pasmo.co.jp/mp/app/en/
Google: https://www.pasmo.co.jp/mp/and/start/gp/new/ (In Japanese, please use automatic translation) or check https://support.google.com/wallet/answer/13315360?hl=en
For route planning, searching on Google Maps is good enough.
SIM cards and mobile internet
SIMs and mobile plans cannot be purchased by non-residents. Therefore, we strongly recommend that you get data roaming in your country, or at the airport when you enter Japan.
Automatic translation
Recently, there are many signs and labels in English, but we still strongly recommend that you download Google Translate or a similar app on your phone before coming to Japan. In particular, Google Lens is a lifesaver.
