Yingli Tian is a Distinguished Professor in Electrical Engineering Department at the City College of New York (CCNY) and Computer Science Department at Graduate Center of the City University of New York (CUNY). She is a fellow of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), International Association of Pattern Recognition (IAPR), Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association (AAIA), and American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). She is a pioneer in automatic facial expression analysis, human activity understanding, and assistive technology. Her research on automatic facial expression analysis and database development with Takeo Kanade and Jeff Cohn has made significant impact in the research community and received the "Test of Time Award" at FG'19. She has published more than 250 peer-reviewed papers in journals and conferences in these areas with 27,200+ citations and holds 29 issued patents. She received her PhD from the Department of Electronic Engineering at the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 1996. Before joining CCNY, Dr. Tian was a research staff member at IBM T. J. Watson Research Center and led the video analytics team. Her contributions to video surveillance technology and solutions have earned her the IBM Outstanding Innovation Achievement Award and multiple Invention Achievement Award. She was the PC for FG'23. She serves as Associate Editor in Chief for Computer Vision and Image Understanding (CVIU), and Associate Editor for IEEE Trans. on Multimedia (TMM), Journal of Visual Communication and Image Representation (JVCI), and Machine Vision and Applications (MVAP).
