Norimichi Ukita is a Professor in the Graduate School of Engineering at Toyota Technological Institute, Japan (TTI-J). He received the B.E. and M.E. degrees in Information Engineering from Okayama University, Japan, in 1996 and 1998, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in Informatics from Kyoto University, Japan, in 2001, under the supervision of Dr. Takashi Matsuyama. After five years as an Assistant Professor at NAIST, he was promoted to Associate Professor in 2007 and moved to TTI-J in 2016. He was a research scientist in Precursory Research for Embryonic Science and Technology, Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), from 2002 to 2006. He was a Visiting Research Scientist at Carnegie Mellon University, working with Dr. Takeo Kanade, from 2007 to 2009. He was also a Visiting Researcher at the Advanced Telecommunications Research Institute International during 2011–2017, a Visiting Professor at NAIST during 2016–2017, and a Guest Professor at the Cybermedia Center of Osaka University. He currently serves as an Adjoint Professor at Toyota Technological Institute at Chicago (TTIC). He served as the General Chair of MVA2019 and MVA2021; the Program Chair of ACCV2026, SNL2022, and MVA2017; and an Area Chair for CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, NeurIPS, AAAI, and many other conferences. He also serves as an Area Editor of IEEE TPAMI and several other journals. He received the IEICE Excellent Paper Award in 1999. He was the winner of the NTIRE 2018 challenge on image super-resolution, achieved first place in the PIRM 2018 Perceptual SR Challenge, received Best Poster Awards at MVA2019 and MVA2025, and received the Best Practical Paper Award at MVA2021.
